At English lessons Yokohama we like to make sure you learn the correct way. With this in mind, all of our teachers are currently native speakers. Mostly from the United Kingdom. We believe this is the best and most efficient way for you to learn a language.
All of our teachers are extensively qualified to teach you English to the highest level. We like to make sure every lesson is enjoyable and interesting. All of our teachers are required to have experience in teaching learners of all ages. All of our teachers also have to take a background check.
We believe in a fun teaching style. Ensuring that you enjoy your lessons but also learn a lot. We can guarantee that every lesson at English Lessons Yokohama will be a great experience. Owen Evans Is a Native English speaking teacher from the UK.
Hi! My name is Owen and I’m an experienced English teacher from the United Kingdom. My lessons are always enjoyable and you will learn a lot from me. I love to teach English so I hope that you love to learn.
I’m a very experienced teacher. I have been teaching English for over 2 years to students from all over the world. As well as teaching English, I am an experienced guitar teacher who has been teaching guitar for over 10 years.
My hobbies include Travelling, Music, Guitar, Football, Language, Food and Culture so I am confident that we can find lots of topics to talk about that we both find interesting.

Young students are welcome to learn English. I believe the younger the better. However, I recommend starting from ages 6+.
English Lessons Yokohama offers IELTS practice and we can help you apply for an IELTS exam or any other English exams you wish to study.
At English Lessons Yokohama we recommend that you take at least 1 hour per week. However, if you take 3x 30 min lesson per week, this will see the best results.
How Lessons Work
Our preference and our students preference has always been to take lessons via video chat. With this in mind, we think it is great to take lessons via Skype or facetime. We also offer a free 15 min lesson if you are unsure about how the lessons work. If you have not already, you can download Skype for free by clicking here.
We will send all of the learning materials to you before or after every lesson however you are expected to take notes during every lesson.
Payment has to be received at least 4 hours before each lesson. We recommend that you are ready early for your lesson. If you are late you will not only waste time but also will still be charged.
After every lesson. We will send you a review form which will contain words to practice as well as difficult sentences or new vocabulary. It’s expected that you practice these words so your teacher can move onto new topics for the next lesson. Review forms can be sent in English, 日本語, 한국어 & 中文.
Prices
Our prices:
$15 for 30 mins.
$30 for one hour.
Payment has to be sent before the lesson takes place. If the payment is not sent then the lesson will be cancelled. If you have a different arrangement with your teacher or you have paid in advance then this does not apply.
We accept payment via Bank Transfer, Paypal, Linepay & Transferwise. Other options may be available so please ask if you wish to use an alternative method of payment.

If food and drink are more your thing, then I would recommend the Full Monty British Pub located at 〒231-0042 Kanagawa Prefecture, Yokohama, Naka Ward, 福富町西通41, 北原ビル. This place has a wide range of beers and food on offer.
For those who want to purchase some books in English then a great place to start would be Kinokuniya Bookstore. They have shops all over the country but they are always great and have a wide selection of English learning materials. The bookstore is located at 〒220-8510 Kanagawa Prefecture, Yokohama, Nishi Ward, Takashima, 2 Chome−18−１ そごう横浜店 7F.
Another great pub with food and a British English theme would be The Tavern located on B1 横浜西口明和ビル 9 １４ ２丁目 南幸町 西区, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture 220-0005, Japan. Once again they have a great range of food and drink on offer for anyone wanting to try some English themed beers.
