Hi! My name is Owen and I’m an experienced English teacher from the UK. I like to always make sure my lessons are fun and exciting and you will learn and improve quickly. I’m experienced in teaching all ages and levels of learner so no matter your level, together we will improve.
I am a highly qualified teacher who has been teaching English for over two years to students from all over the world. In addition to this, I’ve also been a guitar teacher for over 10 years both privately and for music schools.
My hobbies include Travelling, Music, Guitar, Football/Soccer, Language, Food and Culture so I am confident that we can find lots of topics to talk about.

At English Lessons Toronto we welcome learners of all ages. However, we would recommend to start no younger than age 6.
Yes, we teach both IELTS and TOEFL. If you want to go down this route then please let us know when you email us.
At English Lessons Toronto we make sure that all of our teachers have experience with beginners and that our teachers will make you feel comfortable learning English.
How Lessons Work
Lessons are via video chat. We prefer to use Skype or Facetime but other options are available. We understand that English lessons can be difficult so with that in mind we offer a free 15 min lesson so you can meet your teacher and get to know them a little first to ensure you are comfortable. You can download Skype for free by clicking here.
All textbooks and practice materials will be sent over via email. Sometimes our teachers may require you to buy a textbook. Your teacher will tell you if this is the case.
The lesson has to be paid for at least 4 hours before the lesson is scheduled to start. If payment is not received then your lesson will be cancelled unless you have another arrangement with your teacher.
When the lesson has finished, your teacher will send a review form with words that you need to practice. This document will also include new vocabulary you have learned. It is very important that you study the words and phrases from the lesson so we can learn new words during your next lesson. Review forms can be sent in English, 日本語, 한국어 & 中文.

Our prices:
C$25 for a 30 minute lesson.
C$50 for a one hour lesson.
Payment always has to be received before the scheduled lesson takes place.
We accept payment via Bank Transfer, Paypal & Transferwise. Other options may be available so please ask if you wish to use an alternative method of payment.

There are a lot of great English themed things to do in Toronto. Here are my favourites:
If you are at a stage where you want to study English in further education or purely just take a course in English then we would recommend The University of Toronto located on 27 King’s College Cir, Toronto, ON M5S. They have a wide range of courses available no matter what your field is. Another great University that also has a wide range of courses would be Ryerson University which is located on 350 Victoria St, Toronto, ON M5B 2K3.
If you are looking for English learning books or English learning materials then I would recommend The University Of Toronto Bookstore which has a huge range of learning materials for learners of all levels and ages. They are located on 214 College St, Toronto, ON M5T 3A1.
If drinking and socialising is more your thing, then I would recommend the Queen and Beaver public house. This is a great pub located on Elm St, Toronto, ON M5G 1H1 that serves a variety of English pub food and a great selection of beers.
Lastly, if you are looking for a pub with great English food then I would recommend the Elephant and Castle on 212 King St W, Toronto, ON M5H 1K5. This place has an awesome food menu and again a great selection of beers.
